Ujjain - Tripindi Shradh

The ritual of Narayan Bali Puja is done in Ujjain to seek peace and freedom for the souls that have met unnatural deaths. It is believed that the ritual of Narayan Bali Puja helps in relieving the ancestors from the problems that they cause in the family due to unnatural deaths. The ritual of Narayan Bali Puja is done at sacred pilgrimage sites, and Ujjain is known to be a very powerful site for Pitru-related rituals.

The puja includes special offerings and vedic rituals performed to Lord Vishnu to save those who have passed into the next world.

At first, devotees take a holy bath in the sacred river for purification and then wear clean traditional clothes. After purification, a Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotee and the departed soul. The priest prepares symbolic offerings made of wheat flour and performs rituals representing the departed soul. Specific Vedic mantras are chanted, and sacred offerings are made into the holy fire. The ritual concludes with Tarpan (water offering) and prayers for peace, liberation, and removal of ancestral dosha.
