Grishneshwar Abhishek Puja

Abhishek Puja is a sacred Hindu ritual in which water is offered to the lingam, a symbolic representation of Lord Shiva. While it is typically performed in temples, this puja can also be conducted at home. The ceremony involves the chanting of various mantras, with the Jal Abhishek being a key part of the ritual, where water is poured to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva, who is revered as Rudra.

Performing this puja at the Grishneshwar temple is considered especially auspicious. The ritual begins with the recitation of the Purushsukta and continues with the chanting of specific mantras, all performed in strict accordance with Vedic traditions. The puja concludes with the devotees receiving the blessings of Lord Shiva.

At the beginning of the ritual, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees, seeking divine blessings. Abhishek refers to the sacred ceremonial bath of the Shivlinga, performed with great devotion. During this holy ritual, offerings of Gangajal (the sacred water of River Ganga), along with Bilva leaves and fresh flowers, are poured over the Lord Shiva Jyotirlinga while Vedic mantras are chanted to invoke divine grace and blessings.
