Laghu Rudrabhishek, also known as Laghu Rudra Puja, is a sacred and powerful ritual performed to seek the divine blessings of Lord Shiva. Conducting this puja at Bhimashankar Temple, one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas of India, is considered highly auspicious. Devotees believe that this ritual brings inner peace, prosperity, and relief from past negative karmas. The puja involves the chanting of Rudra Sukta from the Yajurveda while performing Abhishek of the Shivling with holy substances such as water, milk, honey, ghee, and other sacred offerings. These offerings symbolize deep devotion, surrender, and gratitude toward Lord Shiva.
The puja includes the recitation of 11 verses of Rudri (Namak–Chamak), offering of Mahavastra to Lord Shiva, Naivedya offering, and Brahmin Bhojan for 11 Brahmins, which is considered extremely meritorious. The ceremony concludes with the Aarti of Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga, followed by the distribution of Prasad to devotees.
Performing Laghu Rudrabhishek at Bhimashankar is believed to remove obstacles, enhance spiritual growth, and attract the divine grace of Lord Shiva.
