The temple is dedicated to Kaal Bhairav, a fierce and protective form of Lord Shiva. He is regarded as the Kotwal (guardian) of Kashi (Varanasi).
Devotees often offer mustard oil, black cloth, liquor, black sesame, and flowers as symbolic offerings to Lord Bhairav.
Mobile phones, cameras, and large bags may not be allowed inside for security reasons. Lockers are available outside the temple.
Visit during early morning or late evening for peaceful darshan. Festivals like Bhairav Ashtami are especially significant.
