Ganga Aarti is one of the Hindu rituals in which Maa Ganga, who is considered a divine mother of the holy river, is worshipped. It has great significance in Haridwar and generally takes place at Har Ki Pauri ghats. In Ganga Aarti, people worship Maa Ganga, offering flowers, incense, and lit lamps to her while chanting prayers and hymns. The serene atmosphere that prevails because of the burning lamps along the river is highly spiritual. People perform the Ganga Aarti ritual to show their gratitude and make requests to the divine Mother for prosperity and peace in their lives. One can organize Ganga Aarti ceremony at Har Ki Pauri through Makemypuja.in in the company of a learned Pandit Ji.
Ganga Aarti Puja Vidhi commences with cleaning the Puja place and Sankalp where the Priest writes the devotee’s name, Gotra, and reason behind praying. It starts with prayers to Lord Ganesha, and after that, Maa Ganga is invited through the use of some traditional mantras. The Ganga Aarti arrangement includes the use of Diya, Ghee, incense, flowers, camphor, etc. The priest does all the prayers and chants which are required while the devotees do flower and prayer offerings to Maa Ganga. In Deep Aarti, the lit lamp is moved in a traditional manner before Maa Ganga while the hymns and Ganga mantras are chanted. Offering of Camphor and Incense is done as part of Puja. This entire process is ended with prayers for peace and prosperity of the devotee and his/her family. If required, Deep Daan can be done at the end of the Puja.
