Pashupatinath Rudrabhishek Puja

The Pashupatinath Rudrabhishek is an extremely powerful Vedic puja in honor of Lord Shiva in his incarnation as Pashupati Nath. This auspicious puja is offered based on the age-old traditions prevalent at the famous Pashupatinath temple. The meaning of “Pashupati” refers to the lord of all living beings. Hence, this puja is highly sacred for obtaining Lord Shiva’s blessings, overcoming any problems or difficulties, pacification of planetary influences, and achieving success, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment. In the ritual of Rudrabhishek, Lord Shiva is honored through chants of Vedic mantras and divine offerings.

The Pashupatinath Rudrabhishek Puja starts with Sankalp, in which the name of the devotee, his/her gotra, and prayers are offered to Lord Shiva. After that, Swastivachan and Anganyas take place for purification and blessings from God. The core practice comprises of the recitation of the Rudra Path along with the holy Abhishek of Lord Pashupatinath through holy offerings while the priests chant various Vedic mantras. Once this ceremony takes place, Shiva Manas Puja, Aarti, and finally Mantrapushpanjali are done as part of worship. In Prasad, the devotee will be offered 54-beaded Panchmukhi Rudraksha Mala, which signifies the blessings of Lord Shiva.
