Trimbakeshwar - Rudrabhishek Puja

Rudrabhishek Puja is a powerful Vedic ritual dedicated to Lord Shiva, dedicated to his fierce form Rudra. It involves the ceremonial bathing (abhishek) of the Shiva Lingam with holy substances while chanting Rudra mantras from the Sri Rudram (Namakam and Chamakam) of the Yajurveda. Panchamrit Abhishek is a sacred Hindu ritual in which the Shiva Lingam (or idol of the deity) is bathed with five (pancha) holy ingredients (amrit): milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar/jaggery. It is an important part of Rudrabhishek and other Shiva pujas, performed to invoke divine blessings, purification and fulfillment of desires.

At first Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees.Then devotees invoke Lord Shiva with mantras and prayers chanted by the pujari. After that, milk, curd, honey, sugar and ghee are used for Rudra Abhishek on Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga along with mantras chanted by the pujari. At last, arti is done by the pujari of Grishneshwar temple and blessings are taken by the devotees.
